PRODIGY: An Educational Kid's Game

Prodigy is an online fantasy-based educational game made to help improve children’s Math and English skills. The Math portion is designed for children in grades 1-8, and the English portion is designed for children in grades 1-6. On Prodigy, players can play with an avatar of a witch or wizard. The goal is to battle the puppet master while acquiring gems. In order to advance levels, the players have to solve Math or English questions. 


Prodigy is available as an online app, but it can also be accessed from a computer. The app is free for teachers and they can share it with their students through a class link. Parents and children at home can use the app through a paid monthly or yearly membership.


Brief Prodigy Walkthrough 


  1. You can log on to website as a home player or a student


  2. Select which subject you want to focus on: English or Math 



  3. In the subject you choose, you can pick the world you want to play in 



  4. From there, you can play different levels of the world and move on by answering questions correctly 



  5. The game has several customizable settings. The default avatars are “witch” or “wizard”. Players can keep the default settings, but they can also change the names and design of their avatar to their preference

Kids can experience the enjoyment of playing online games all while learning useful math and English skills 


It is a great way for parents and guardians to be more involved in their child’s learning. Pinpointing their challenging areas in the game could be a great way to discover which areas of learning your child needs extra help with at home


How to talk to your child about Prodigy 


  • Ask your child how they feel about improving their Math or English skills 


  • Ask your child what they know about Prodigy game app 


  • Explain the Prodigy game app to your child and discuss if they would be interested in trying it for themself


  • Suggest to set an account for them and go through the website with your child and play some of the game levels together
